Endpoints
GET /latest returns current rates, and GET /convert converts any pair. GET /currencies and GET /preview are public and not metered.
Coverage
About 160 currencies, all quoted per US dollar. Any pair is one division through USD, and the docs show the arithmetic.
Edition cadence
Each plan sets how often your edition can change, from a daily edition to more frequent updates. The plan table lists every interval.
Quotas and headers
A monthly quota per user, per UTC calendar month, shared by all of your keys. Accepted responses carry X-RateLimit-Limit, -Remaining, and -Reset; rejections carry Retry-After.
Keys and usage
Up to 10 active keys, each revocable at once. The console shows usage by day and by key.
Quota emails
An email when you reach 80% of your monthly quota and another at 100%, so a busy month does not catch you by surprise.

Every pair meets through USD.

A pair is derived from the current USD edition. For EUR to GBP, divide the GBP-per-USD rate by EUR-per-USD: 0.7562 / 0.8945 = 0.845388 GBP per EUR.

Plans by quota, limit, and update frequency

Each plan sets a monthly request quota, a per-second limit for each key, and how often your edition can change. The free plan needs no credit card: sign in and create a key.

Questions about limits

Do I need a credit card for the free plan?
No. Sign in with email, GitHub, or Google, create a key, and you are on the free plan. You are asked for payment only if you choose a paid plan.
What counts as a request?
Each accepted call to GET /latest or GET /convert with a valid key counts once toward your monthly quota, whichever of your keys sends it. Rejected calls do not count: a missing or invalid key, or a per-second or quota rejection. GET /currencies and GET /preview are public and not metered.
What happens at the quota?
Further metered requests get 429 API_QUOTA_EXCEEDED with a Retry-After header giving the seconds until the next period. The quota resets at 00:00 UTC on the 1st of each calendar month. You are emailed at 80% and again at 100% of the quota.
What does update interval mean?
It is how often a new edition can reach your plan. Your plan sees a new edition at most that often. Each response carries updatedAt, and nextUpdateAt says when the next edition is due.
How does the per-second limit work?
Each plan sets how many requests per second one key may make. Going over returns 429 API_RATE_LIMITED with Retry-After: 1. The limit applies to each key separately, while the monthly quota is shared across all of your keys. Requests rejected for the per-second limit do not count toward the quota.
Can I change or cancel my plan?
Yes. Change plan, cancel, or resume from Billing in the console, where invoices and the customer portal are also available. Billing is handled through Lemon Squeezy.
